D63 -- Things we've lost

We've been without our laptop for a few days now, and it is really a pain to try to keep up with blogging without easy access to a computer. So rather than describe our day, which was pretty uneventful as we just traveled from Christchurch to Kaikoura, I thought I would share some of the things we've lost or broken during our 2+ months on the road:

  • our laptop -- a victim of improper storage :(
  • our passports – we've actually lost these not once but twice (first at a New Zealand restaurant and then at an Australian airport). Incredibly, they were returned to us both times
  • beach towels – left on a sailing boat in New Zealand, where we had laid them out to dry
  • 3 bottles of wine – left on an airplane in Chile
  • two elastic clothes lines – we lost the original in Chile and the replacement in New Zealand
  • compass/thermometer – left on a hotel balcony in New Zealand
  • expensive hair conditioner – left in the bathroom of a New Zealand youth hostel
  • all purpose travel soap – left somewhere in Chile
  • pack cover and rain pants – stolen by the wind while hiking in Chile
  • wool cap – lost somewhere in New Zealand
  • fancy eye covers – both were gifts, and both were lost simultaneously in a Chilean hostel
  • quick-drying shorts – no idea where we left these
  • wool socks – again, no idea where these might be
  • bone necklace -- bought and left in New Zealand
  • 37 pictures we took of Christchurch - possibly left on the desktop of a computer at one of the B&Bs where we stayed

Of course, with 3 ½ months of traveling left, I'm sure we'll be updating this list in the future. Since we have no pictures of Christchurch to post, here is one taken from the B&B we are staying at in Kaikoura.
