D69 -- Marital bliss in Sydney
This morning we got into our third squabble in three days, and Thomas decided we needed to have a “state of the union” conversation. For those of you who think that traveling around the world is all fun and games... well, it often is. But whatever problems you have follow you wherever you go. We had a good (but emotional) talk and both feel much better. Man, this marriage stuff is not for amateurs!
After the “State of the Union” we returned to our previously scheduled programming: exploring the CBD (Central Business District) and its mix of modern and Victorian architecture. We went to another outdoor neighborhood market, this time in The Rocks, the first settlement in Sydney. While walking around we passed by an exhibit called “United Buddy Bears” consisting of a big group of life-sized bears. Each had been painted by an artist from a different UN member nation as a project to promote international peace and understanding. Can you guess what countries these are from?
To end the day we took a long ferry ride that gave us great views of the harbor and the city. We could see people climbing the Harbour Bridge. Remember when they did that in the Amazing Race? It was a very nice, relaxing ride, except for the singing by a shockingly bad Elvis impersonator on the return trip.
