D130 - Really old bread

One of our favorite discoveries when we were here on our honeymoon was chocolate macaroons from a bakery called Paul's. We have been looking forward to them for months, and were so excited about finally getting some. We bought two macaroons, a loaf of bread, and some drinks and ate our breakfast on a bridge over the Seine. Awesome! Back to the apartment, where I tried to catch up on weeks of blogging. Thomas went to an English language bookstore and then we both headed out together to a department store called Bon Marche. Despite its name, it is no bargain. They have a separate grocery store that stocks 80 Euro bottles of balsamic and other gourmet goodies. They had beautiful fruits and vegetables, buffalo mozzarella... I could go on and on. You really start to miss grocery shopping when you're on the road for 4 months. Really! The only item I did not find appetizing was a hog's leg (hoof and all) that they carve meat from. We bought some take away from their deli and went “home” for lunch.

For our sightseeing outing of the day we went to see the Egyptian collection at the Louvre. That place is amazing – inside and out! My favorite items were a 5,000 year-old necklace and some 3,500 year-old bread!

We split a pizza for dinner because we wanted to save room for crepes. Mmmm....street vendor crepes! Nutella for Thomas and cinnamon sugar for me.
